RIDLEY TOWNSHIP – Octubre 16, 2019 – Sen. Tim Kearney (D – Delaware, Chester) today announced a $2.3 million state loan to Ridley Township for stormwater improvements. The loan is provided by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST).

“This project will directly benefit the residents of Ridley Township,” said Sen. Kearney. “These improvements will greatly improve water quality and better protect our communities from flooding and stormwater damage. I thank PENNVEST for this critical investment in Ridley Township.”

Ridley Township’s stormwater system is over 75 years old and has experienced problems like flooding. This project will make numerous improvements to the township’s stormwater system, including 8,105 feet of storm sewer, 108 inlets, 3 manholes, 390 feet of infiltration trench, and a 7,500 square-foot infiltration bed. A bioswale will collect runoff from railroad tracks. Water quality trenches will filter out debris and pollutants before they enter the Darby Creek and Delaware River.

PENNVEST provides low-interest loans for sewer, storm water, and drinking water projects throughout the Commonwealth. These projects contribute to improving Pennsylvania’s environment and the health of its people, while also providing opportunities for economic growth and development.
