DELAWARE COUNTY – DECEMBER 20, 2023 – Senator Tim Kearney (D-Delaware) is excited to announce that three local organizations in the 26th Senatorial District that offer arts and culture programming will receive a combined total of $93,606 in funding to assist with various initiatives and operational needs.
The Media Arts Council, the Media Theatre for the Performing Arts, and the Upper Darby Arts and Education Foundation were recently awarded funding by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The funding will be administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).
“Although we are nearly four years removed from the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our arts and culture organizations are still recovering from its impact,” said Senator Kearney. “I am pleased that I was able to advocate for these institutions to receive this crucial financial investment, but it’s not enough. They have demonstrated resilience, and adaptability and we need to provide more support to help them sustain their operations. We must ensure that our community remains connected to the vibrancy that arts and culture bring to our lives. “
