SPRINGFIELD (Enero 17, 2020) – Sen. Tim Kearney (D – Chester, Delaware) today announced that four school districts and one intermediate unit in his district will receive $175,000 in targeted grants through the PAsmart Initiative. Funding will be used to expand computer science classes and provide educators with training to teach these classes.

“The smartest investment we can make is preparing our children for the jobs of tomorrow,” said Kearney. “Over the next decade, most jobs will require workers to use computers and new technologies. These grants will set students up for success by expanding their access to computer science education. As the minority chair of the Senate Communications & Technology Committee, I am particularly excited about this investment in the future of our children and our economy.”

Each grant recipient will receive $35,000. Recipients include:

  • Unidad Intermedia del Condado de Delaware
  • Great Valley School District
  • Springfield School District
  • Tredyffrin-Easttown School District
  • Upper Darby School District
