DELAWARE COUNTY, PA – ਮਾਰਚ 2024 – For several months, the conflict between Israel and Hamas has polarized the world. Countless innocent lives have been lost, and the current humanitarian crisis threatens the very fabric of our shared humanity.

Although I am submitting this statement in my official capacity as an elected official, I am endeavoring to speak as a human being who is utterly devastated by the impact that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has made on humanity.
The humanitarian crisis that has been unfolding before our eyes is heartbreaking as over 31,0000 lives have been lost, hundreds of thousands of homes have been demolished, and far too many families torn apart. The threat of more deaths is imminent if the current cycle of violence remains unchecked.
We cannot ignore the suffering of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire, regardless of their nationality or religious beliefs. Every life lost is a tragedy, and it is our moral obligation to do everything in our power to end this violence. The US must take greater efforts to accelerate the provision of food, medicinal supplies, and humanitarian aid into Gaza and to secure the safe release of Israeli hostages.
I join the millions of people worldwide calling upon all parties involved for an immediate ceasefire and to engage in meaningful, good-faith dialogue about a permanent two-state solution – the only path to lasting peace. It is clear that the Israeli government must balance its right to self-defense with the imperatives to respect human rights, prevent the escalation of regional war, and partnering on a viable strategy for ending this conflict.
This is not about taking sides, but about coming together as global citizens to save lives and ensure a better future.
It is only through empathy, understanding, and mutual respect that we can build a world where differences are celebrated, and conflicts are resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
I hope that a ceasefire can be reached soon for the sake of all those who are suffering and for the hope of a brighter future.
