DELAWARE COUNTY – ਮਾਰਚ 26, 2024 – Four municipalities in the 26th Senatorial District will receive a total of $2,425,595 in Multimodal Transportation funding Senator Tim Kearney (D-Delaware) today announced. 

These funds will assist Clifton Heights Borough, Media Borough, Springfield Township, and Upper Providence Township with various projects to improve transportation and roadway conditions in each community. 

“This funding will directly benefit the 26th district, enhancing safety measures and addressing crucial roadway improvements,” said Senator Kearney. “By investing in these projects, we are not only promoting economic development but also ensuring that residents and visitors have access to safe and reliable transportation networks.  This is vital for our community’s growth and prosperity.”

Awardees and Project Information:

  • $1,700,000 for Clifton Heights Borough for assistance with Phase 2 of the Springfield Corridor Infrastructure and Safety Upgrades project.
  • $50,362 for Media Borough for improvements to the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Providence Road and 5th Street.
  • $354,978 for Springfield Township for multimodal safety improvements at the intersection of Powell Road and Leamy Avenue.
  • $320,255 for Upper Providence Township to help with roadway improvements along Ridley Creek Road.

Multimodal Transportation Fund:

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth.

Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation, and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
