DELAWARE COUNTY, PA – August 19, 2024 – Sen. Tim Kearney (D-Delaware) and Rep. Heather Boyd (D-Delaware), today announced a $1.3 million Multimodal Grant from PennDOT has been awarded to Clifton Heights Borough for infrastructure and safety upgrades to improve traffic and stormwater management along the Springfield corridor.

Earlier this year, Senator Kearney also announced a multimodal grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) totaling $1.7 million for Clifton Heights Borough to support phase 2 of this project. This brings the total amount of multimodal funding awarded to Clifton Heights to $3 million.

“I’m thrilled we’ve secured more funding for Clifton Heights Borough, ensuring they have the resources needed to upgrade and improve the Springfield corridor,” said Senator Kearney. “State investments like these make our communities more resilient and safer, while also enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors.”

“This PennDOT grant will really help improve Springfield Avenue for residents and school children,” said Rep. Boyd. “I’m glad our work in Harrisburg to bring state funds back for needed projects is paying off.”

In addition to improving traffic and stormwater management along the Springfield corridor, this project will help accommodate the new Clifton Heights Middle School, helping to safely and efficiently transport residents, students, and staff every day.
