SPRINGFIELD (October 31, 2019) – Sen. Tim Kearney (D – Delaware, Chester) today announced that Delaware County Community College (DCCC) will receive $250,000 from the Preschool Development Grant program. This funding will support the development of a statewide model for delivering associate and bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood Education (ECE) using apprenticeship in degree delivery.

“Early childhood education puts our children on a path for lifelong success,” said Senator Kearney. “This grant will help ensure our children are served by high-quality professionals who will support our youngest learners to fulfill their potential. Any investment in early childhood education is an investment our future.”

DCCC’s grant is part of an announcement of $1.5 million for 10 colleges and universities across the Commonwealth for ECE career development programs. The Preschool Development Grant is a partnership between the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ Office of Child Development and Early Learning and the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary and Higher Education.
