DELAWARE COUNTY, PA – September 13, 2024 –   Senator Tim Kearney (D-Delaware) today announced a total of $2,309,578 in grants for several schools in the 26th Senatorial District, which encompasses part of Delaware County. This funding is made possible thanks to the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Environmental Repairs Grant program.

The Pennsylvania school districts, career and technical education centers (CTCs), and charter schools receiving these grants can use the funding to improve water infrastructure and eliminate contamination; install point-of-use treatment devices to reduce lead and other contaminants; remediate mold or asbestos contamination; and for other projects that remediate environmental hazards in school buildings.

The grant awardees in Senator Kearney’s district are as follows:

  • Delaware County CTC was awarded $79,751
  • Interboro ASD Delaware was awarded $289,510
  • Upper Darby School District was awarded $1,780,890
  • Vision Academy Charter School was awarded $159,427

“Investing in our children and their education is a key priority of mine and I’m thrilled that it is also a priority of Governor Shapiro and his administration,” said Senator Kearney. “The Environmental Repairs Grant program is one crucial way we can work to ensure students across PA and here in Delco are in healthy school environments and are able to focus on their education instead of the status and condition of the buildings in which they are learning.”

The Environmental Repairs Grant program awarded $75 million to 109 Pennsylvania school districts, CTCs, and charter schools. You can see the full list here.
